Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY: February 27, 2012

Outside my window.... drizzly with a good chance of showers the rest of the day. My backyard is covered with robins and they are constantly chirping.

I am thinking.... trying to get things organized and old stuff weeding out. What do I keep and what do I let go.

I am thankful.... for the rain we have had the last couple of days. We need it.

In the kitchen.... thinking of making out weekly menus because I never know how to answer this question.

I am wearing.... jeans and a 3/4 length sleeve red top.

I am creating.... nothing at the moment.

I am going.... no special plans for this week except the usual grocery store stop.

I am wondering.... as I have been lately - when my move to Tennessee will be.

I am reading.... several things at the moment - my Bible, In The Footsteps of Jesus by Bruce Marchiano and Sister Chicks Go Brit

I am hoping.... for some clarity in my mind and spirit about this year and what will be going on.

I am looking forward to.... things eventually being settled in my life.

I am learning.... PATIENCE! and God's timing.

Around the house.... I hear Mom in the kitchen, Mandy barking at whatever goes by in front of the house and lots and lots of birds.

I am pondering.... too many things today to even list.

One of my favorite things.... hearing and watching birds.

A few plans for the rest of the week: some organizing and puttering around.

A peek into my day…

One of my azalea bushes in bud. I am so thankful to see this. Last year the bushes were full of buds but for some reason when they were just little buds, they all died and fell off the bush. I thought that perhaps the bush was a goner. But this year, they are healthy and about to be in full bloom.

Jesus is calling you.

No greater love

When trying to come up with a title for this post, the words - No Greater Love immediately sprang to mind. It is in fact, not my own creation but the title of a movie that is currently in the funding process. It is a word-for-word movie of the Gospel of John being produced by Bruce Marchiano and his ministry. It is being entirely funded by donations so that when the movie is completed it will be not-for-profit  but a ministry. Bruce's plan is to be able to hand out copies of the movie free to ministries. I saw an interview of his yesterday where he talked about this awesome project - no small one either. It will cost around $45 million to make.

For those of you not familiar with Bruce, he portrayed Jesus in a 4 hour movie called The Gospel According To Matthew some 19 years ago. His portrayal of a loving, smiling Jesus has revolutionized my faith. It is word-for-word of the Gospel of Matthew from the NIV I believe. I very highly recommend watching it. You just may never look at Jesus quite the same way again.

The interview I mentioned earlier caught my attention for many reasons. I reminded me of Matthew - and how much of a blessing it was at the time I watched it. It also reminded me of how much Jesus does love me. It was then that God gently told me that I had lost my focus. In the midst of all the changes in my life and my searching to make some sense of them, I had taken my eyes off Him.  In my attempt to please God and do "everything right" I had become very legalistic.  And very confused. I had entered into a "works" mentality and never feeling like I was doing the right thing and enough of it. I had forgotten about grace. And I had forgotten how to trust.

But I am so amazed at how faithful our God is.  He reminded me of "how things used to be".  Recently God had led me to begin reading and studying Galatians to see just who I am in Christ.  Yesterday I sensed He wanted to remind me of just how much He loves me. And so I'm also re-reading In The Footsteps of Jesus - a book all about Jesus great love for us.  God given me a focus and I am so thankful for that.

Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY: February 13, 2012

Outside my window.... pretty and sunny but deceptive 'cause it's icy cold! Supposed to warm up today though

I am thinking.... of what to keep and what to get rid of.

I am thankful.... for my warm house this morning and last night.

In the kitchen....totally clueless as to what to have for dinner. I guess I need to make up a weekly menu.

I am wearing.... jeans, denim top and green heavy socks and shoes.

I am creating....a plan for packing and getting ready for the Tennessee move.

I am going....Nowhere to day but the usual mid week church service on Wednesday and grocery shopping later in the week.

I am reading..., my Bible and A Rabbi Looks at Jesus of Nazareth

I am hoping.... to be able to get rid of some more stuff that I really don't need and have a yard sale early next month.

I am looking forward to.... a day out in a few weeks. I don't know what to do yet but just get away.

I am learning.... to take things one day at a time.

Around the house.... Mom fixing her breakfast in the kitchen, It looks pretty orderly right now but that could change.

I am pondering.... concerned about finding the church that is a perfect fit for me when I get to Tennessee. That decision is just about as important as where to live.

A favorite quote for today…. "Have faith in God"..... Jesus the Messiah

One of my favorite things.... the smell of the fresh, cool air first thing in the morning.

A few plans for the rest of the week: begin going through my things (again!) and being really stern with myself about what to keep and what to get rid of.

Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY: February 6, 2012

Outside my window....  sunny with very mild temps. It's been unseasonably warm for even a Florida winter.

Outside my window....  the house next door is empty. The neighbors moved out and at least took their stuff. I think the house is being fixed up for new occupants.

I am thinking.... about all the earthquakes that have happened in the last few hours, especially those in the Philippines. Can it be much longer before our Lord returns?

I am thankful.... for my Savior and His love and salvation.

In the kitchen.... I've had my breakfast. Not sure what to have for dinner tonight.

I am wearing.... blue and white striped capris and a sleeveless white top (in winter no less!)

I am creating.... still working on my quilt wall hanging. I've put it aside for awhile but maybe will finish it this week.

I am going.... the usual grocery store run later in the week and church Wednesday evening.

I am wondering.... When to start packing for my Tennessee move. It is now planned for June.

I am reading.... my Bible and Interpreting Dreams and Visions by Perry Stone

I am hoping.... that my doctor calls in a refill for my cortisone nasal spray. I'm really needing it.

I am looking forward to.... a quiet week of reading and catching up

I am learning.... that things don't always happen in my time but in the Lord's perfect timing.

Around the house.... pretty quiet. Even Mandy is snoozing on the couch.

I am pondering.... how life will be different up in Tennessee and how Mom and I will adjust.

One of my favorite things.... snuggling up with a good book on a rainy day. I hope we get some rain today.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I want to do some rearranging in my computer room and begin sorting through stuff. I also want to begin pricing some things for a yard sale later on.

A peek into my day…
I don't have a photo of my own but here is a favorite - not sure who the artist is.

Jesus is that living water.

Up to the minute news

I've not posted in a few days and thought I'd catch you up on my life here.

I am rejoicing that I finally received my very first Social Security payment. I am very excited to finally be "officially" retired. January was a pretty lean month until then.

To celebrate (and because I finally had money to put more gas in the car!) I met my online friend, Marge for lunch at the Polynesian Village Resort at Disney World. We had a lovely lunch and long chat. We had several months to catch up on. I do love the Disney atmosphere and at the Polynesian, it's like being in Hawaii.

I've been contemplating my Face Book games. Just when I think that I'm going to stop them or at least cut out a couple, along comes another game to catch my attention. Right now I've got 4 farms in Farmville (my home farm, one in England, one in New England and one up in the frozen tundra somewhere). I have a garden in Gardens of Time which is fun to decorate. Now I have a manor in Hidden Chronicles. I keep telling myself that these games keep my retired mind active which they do. But they also can be (are!) very addictive. When my farms are in full swing, I have wild life babies to feed and raise, farm yards and livestock pens to upgrade (for more farm babies), crops to plant and harvest, goose eggs to hatch, lots of trees and orchards to harvest from as well as a sweet shop, pub, spa and restaurant where I make and sell items. My Garden and manor are always calling me to find their hidden objects and be able to expand so that I can buy and decorate even more.

Sounds like a full time job, doesn't it? I thought I was retired! I am downgrading some and selling off some animals that are just too much trouble. (You wouldn't believe how much those farm babies like to eat!)  I am trying to remember that I do have a life off of the computer.

One but of news is that I have set a date for my move to Tennessee - or at least a month. If all goes as planned I will be moving in June. By then I will have enough set aside for all expenses and it will be a lovely month to move. The big "IF" will be finding a place. I want to be a bit choosy and I have stipulations with my next home. I am really praying that either of my two sons up there would be able to find a place for me and save me an extra trip up there before the actual move.  Would be nice.

We are having extraordinary weather right now. Florida is known for its nice winters but low 80's is pretty unusual for February. We had a couple of weeks of intermittent really cold temps but that has been it. Of course, there is still more winter still and I understand a cold front is coming next week.

Hope all of you are having a great day and looking forward to a wonderful weekend. I understand that the Super Bowl is this Sunday. Not being a football fan, I could care less but there are some nice sales in the grocery stores right now because of it!

My Favorites for Praise and Worship

I love praise and worship!  I can enter into worship with music easier than at any other time. I am so thankful that God created music and that I have such a love of it. It saddens me that the devil has taken it and distorted what was, I believe created to use as worship to our Father.  I try to imagine what it will be like to have praise and worship in heaven - tens of thousands of voices all together worshiping in one accord.  It will be LOUD, I'm sure.

There are many, many anointed and awesome music artists out there.  In my Christian walk, I've been blessed by the likes of the Bill Gaither Trio, Keith Green, Don Francisco, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Kathy Triccoli.  But, I guess of all the ones I've heard, there are three that I turn to again and again. They minister to me in a very special way and in turn, I minister to the Father. Here they are in no particular order...

Marty Goetz is a psalmist, a Messianic Jew and to me radiates his love for his Messiah.

Paul Wilbur - another Messianic Jew - he ministers in many countries and has done complete concerts in those countries in their native language.

I first discovered Don Moen with the Hosanna Integrity music cassettes. You can see the love that he has for the Lord.

I am praying that these You Tube videos blessed your socks off!
