New pic

I received another photo from my little girl's breeder last weekend. This one is of the 3 sisters - triplets. Shirley isn't yet yet which one is mine. She probably is evaluating temperament etc to select just the right one for me. As you can see, they all pretty much look alike.

I'm sort of partial to the one looking into the camera only because she's "looking into the camera"! They look so different now from what they will look like as adult. Puppies retain their black and brown coat until about 1 year to 18 months. By then, they will be growing their silky coat and it will be the characteristic blue and gray and fawn that they are. Doc was the runt of the litter and he never could grow his coat long at the sides like others do. This little one is from a championship blood line and probably will have quite a luxurious one. I don't intend to keep it long like that though. Adult silkys look like this.

Yesterday (and maybe some of the day before)Tabbie, my kitten had some diarrhea. I boiled her some chicken and rice as a bland diet and she's doing better. Don't know what caused it but just glad things are improving. She never acted like she was sick.

I'm pretty much done for Christmas except for a last minute run to the grocery store Thursday. I'm trying to avoid going there Christmas Eve. It all came so fast this year! Where does the time go.

I'm so glad that I'm looking forward to retiring this next year. Work is so stressful and physically demanding. I figure I can hang on for 8 more months but sometimes that feels like an eternity! At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Don't know if I'll get back on here before Christmas and if I don't, I wish you, all my blogging friends a very blessed and Merry Christmas!

Waiting for a new member of the family.

Her name is Mandy....

She is a silky terrier - just like Doc-Boy. She is still with her mommy in Oklahoma and will be flying to me January 20th! I am so very excited! This is a first for me - buying a dog online. But, Silkies aren't easy to find here in Florida, I guess and I couldn't locate a breeder near me. This kennel is about 30 miles from where my daughter lives and after talking to the breeder, Shirley at length on the phone, decided to plunge on ahead. I didn't know that it was a common thing to purchase a dog out of state and have them shipped to you. Mandy will be flying from Tulsa on American Airlines (and changing planes in Dallas/Ft Worth if it is anything like my trips have been!)

I acquired Doc-Boy when he was an adult already trained and with attitudes and habits already established. This time, I bought an excellent book from Amazon since I've never raised a dog from such a young puppy. She will be almost 9 weeks old when she comes to me and so it will be interesting. I'll post more photos as the breeder emails them to me.

We've had some arctic cold weather here in Florida as I'm sure most of you (except my Australian friends) can identify with. Today it is milder and is expected to get into the 60's. I always say that when we have cold weather like that, it would at least be nice to have some snow flurries to add to the ambiance.

I'm pretty much ready for Christmas - just a few gifts to wrap and a few things to get at the store. We had our work Christmas party last evening at the Hospice House. Usually we have it at some one's home but this year we did it at the facility and for me and my CNA it meant fitting it in with patient care etc. But it worked out. I look ahead to next year when I should be retired. Because the way my schedule runs this year, I have Christmas Eve and Day off so I can officially say that I will never have to work another Christmas. I'm hoping to spend Christmas with family up in Tennessee next year.

Well, I guess I'll get going. Hope you all are staying warm and safe.
Until later....
